Recording artist, actor, and producer Tony Vincent has built an impressive career over the past two decades. With numerous #1 Billboard radio singles, a rock-based theatre career that spans Broadway and London’s West End, and a memorable performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" with Queen for Queen Elizabeth II and an audience of one million, Tony has continually pushed the boundaries of his craft. In addition to these highlights, he has released four albums, appeared on NBC's The Voice, and currently headlines the North American symphony tour of The Music of David Bowie. It’s in this role as a producer that Tony discovered the Toolbox VoxDoubler. Enthusiastic about its impact on his mixes, Tony reached out to share how this plug-in has become a crucial part of his process. Here, he explains how he uses the VoxDoubler and why it's now his go-to tool for vocal thickening, complete with some audio examples to showcase the effect in action.

Q: What did you want to achieve with the effect?

Tony Vincent: "The artist I was working with didn’t have much time to track his vocals, so I was left with just a solid comped lead vocal. I wanted to add a double to give it some thickness. Using the Sonnox VoxDoubler 'Thicken' Plug-In is now my go-to for adding body and weight to a lead vocal. I adjust the effect until I hear what I envision, making sure it sits perfectly in the track."

Q: How did using the VoxDoubler compare with your usual process?

Tony Vincent: "To get a solid double, you need one of two things: a singer who can perform tight doubles consistently, or a lot of time to manually create a double from the lead, which can be a nightmare due to phase issues and timing discrepancies. The VoxDoubler Plug-In is a godsend when you don’t have either of those options!"

Q: What was particularly great about it for you?

Tony Vincent: "Like all Sonnox Plug-Ins, it sounds fantastic! The GUI is beautifully laid out and incredibly easy to use. It really has everything you could want from a plug-in."

Q: Who else would benefit from using the VoxDoubler and why?

Tony Vincent: "Engineers, mixers, producers, and artists who record themselves—pretty much anyone making music could benefit from the VoxDoubler."

Q: Can you sum up your experience using the VoxDoubler in just a few words?

Tony Vincent: "Ease of use. Sonically excellent. Time saver!"

Tony’s insights underscore the VoxDoubler’s value in modern music production, making it an essential tool for anyone looking to add professional vocal doubles without the usual hassle. Whether you're dealing with tight deadlines or looking to streamline your workflow, the VoxDoubler delivers quality and simplicity in one powerful plug-in.
