The SuprEsser DS Difference

Oxford SuperEsser DS plugin
Building on the industry-standard Oxford SuprEsser, SuprEsser DS is optimised for live sound environments and low-latency tracking.

While SuprEsser delivers full-spectrum dynamic control for mixing and mastering, SuprEsser DS focuses on the critical 1kHz to 20kHz range — where unwanted sibilance and harsh frequencies occur — making it quicker, more focused and more efficient to use in fast-paced live scenarios.

Key features

  • Optimised Frequency Range (1kHz to 20kHz)

Optimised Frequency Range (1kHz to 20kHz)

Unlike the full-spectrum Oxford SuprEsser, SuprEsser DS focuses specifically on the 1kHz to 20kHz range—where sibilance and harsh frequencies reside. This allows for quicker, more efficient de-essing, helping you instantly identify and dial out problem.

  • Floating Threshold for Dynamic Adaptability

    Floating Threshold for Dynamic Adaptability

SuprEsser DS uses a floating threshold that dynamically tracks your signal in real-time, adjusting the de-essing based on the input level. Whether it’s a soft whisper or a powerful chorus, SuprEsser DS ensures smooth, transparent control without overprocessing.

  • Advanced Listen Modes & FFT Display

Advanced Listen Modes & FFT Display

With three listen modes (Mix, Inside, Outside) and a clear FFT display, SuprEsser DS gives you the tools to target specific problem areas with precision. You can see and hear the frequencies you need to adjust, whether you’re taming sibilance on a vocal, reducing harsh cymbals, or controlling guitar overtones.

Why SuprEsser DS is Essential for Live Sound

When working in live sound, precision and speed are critical. SuprEsser DS combines the transparent de-essing of the original SuprEsser with near-zero latency and streamlined control, letting you focus on the most important frequencies without adding unnecessary delay or complexity. With its integration into AAX-DSP platforms, it’s the perfect tool for live engineers and anyone needing quick, efficient frequency control in real time.

SuprEsser DS is purpose-built for AAX-DSP systems, making it a perfect fit for Avid S3L and S6L live consoles and Pro Tools HDX users. With sub-2ms latency, it’s optimised for real-time performance environments, delivering precise de-essing without delay.
